1.
The Grangerford family Is a great example of a perfect family back then. They are extremely wealthy and have servants That help them with their day to day chores and activities. Each member of the family has their own slave to help them with whatever they want. The Grangerford family may seem all pleasant and respectful. But behind the nice clothes and fancy things, they live in a world of fear and hate. For over 30 years they have had an ongoing family feud between them and the Shepherdson family. Each family has the intent on killing off the other, one by one, until no one's left standing.
2.
One of the grangerfords kids, buck. Tried to shoot a man, by the name of Harney Shepardson. But misses. Huck standing there confused asks Buck why he tried to shoot him. Buck then explains the family feud situation, The only thing not matching up is the fact that they don't know why they are fighting in the first place. In the book, Mark Twain refers to the family feud conflict between the farmer (“granger”) and rancher (“shepherd”). Back in the 1800's, farmers and ranchers ran into many conflicts on deciding which title went with which job. Once ownership over land became a thing, in areas where ranching was dominant, it was the farmer who was responsible for the fences. But in California, wheat farming was important, and it was the rancher who was responsible for keeping livestock out of crops. Since this was a common conflict in the 1800's it is very well compared to the family feud. Each family takes it a little far each time, so far into this point by the end of the chapter, 2 members of the Grangerford family are killed in a gunfight between the Shepherdson. After seeing that, it scares Huck off, and he flees onto the raft with Jim.
3.
When Huck does state the line about not wanting to talk about something. This immediately gives us, the idea that Huck is upset about what happened. We eventually come to realize something bad happened. Usually when something bad happens, most people don't like to talk about it right away. I believe that something really bad happened. Huck got scared and fled away after the battle, him and Jim instantly get on the raft and float down the river as far away and as soon as possible.
4.
The King and Duke are river men, that Huck and Jim noticed while floating down the river. They end up taking control of Huck and Jim's raft. The younger man declares himself an impoverished English duke and gets Huck and Jim to treat him like royalty. The older man reveals his true identity as the dauphin, the long lost son of King Louis of France. Huck and Jim then start to call them “Duke” and “Your Majesty."
5.
Huck and the "Clan" are on the raft have only been traveling at night to avoid Jim possibly being caught as a runaway. Since the King and Duke take over the raft, the Duke comes down to a solution. The solution is that while traveling during the day with Jim on the raft, If they get caught, they will pretend as if they had captured Jim as the missing runaway slave and are taking him back to his owner. The duke comes to believe that this is a great solution because Jim doesn't have to hide during the day an they can travel down the river and not waste time during the day. If they were to be questioned an told someone the runaway slave was found, word would travel fast and the owners would expect to have their slave back. But I think that's risky if they caught being liars. And they would be in huge trouble. They would be breaking the law and getting themselves into a lot of trouble.

Chapters 22-26
1.
When the duke wrote "Ladies and children are not admitted" on the bottom of the playbill he did it because he had high hopes to bring in more people to their show. After he said “If that last line doesn’t bring them in, then I don’t know a thing about Arkansas!”. Arkansas is a part of the southern states which are fighting to keep slaves and not allow a woman to vote or have equal rights as men. when he said this line he wanted to catch the attention of men. This then would bring in more people to their show because southern men would see the sign and have more desire to go if they knew that whoever was putting on the show was fighting for the same thing they were.
2.
a. Huck doesn't think he should tell Jim that they aren't telling the truth about being a King and a Duke because Jim doesn't know much about Kings and Dukes, to begin with so he wouldn't understand if he told him the truth. I think he also doesn't see the use in telling him because Jim doesn't know that the reason he is going along with their story is to protect Jim from being caught and himself from getting more in trouble. So avoiding telling Jim would avoid Jim potentially spilling the truth about Huck and Jim.
b. When Huck says the phrase " “you couldn’t tell them from the real kind.” he is comparing the king and the duke to actual royalty in the way they act. In the story, Huck mentions lots of examples of royalty in history and how they have cheated people throughout their reign. Then compares those situations to the play that the King and the Duke put on and the fact that they lied to the people by only putting on a few shows for a large amount of oney adn they also used false advertising. So if Huck ever did tell Jim the truth, he wouldn't be able to tell them from the real kind anyway so he thought it was best to keep it to himself.
3. In the book, Huck says "It was enough to make a body ashamed of the human race.”. I think that he said this because the King and the Duke decided to act like the brothers of a dead man to gain his land and money he left behind. They also made Jim and Huck pretend to be their servants. So overall I think that Huck was ashamed that they were pretending to be people they weren't especially when they were talking about someone dying.
4. The Doctor knew that the King and the Duke were fakes because when the Duke gave his speech his British accent wasn't good enough and sounded fake. The Doctor claimed it to be the worst accent he had ever heard because of this he knew that the King and the Duke were fake.
5. The King and the Duke thought about leaving that night with the $6000 in gold, but they didn't end up leaving in the middle of the night. The King then comes up with an idea to wait to leave and sell all the slaves to gain more money than they were previously going to have if they left in the middle of the night with the $6000.

Both the King and Harvey give detailed descriptions of the tattoo and the undertaker who dressed the dead man reveals the truth that he had no tattoo on his chest. Jim was captured because of the reward flyers, and had to returning to slavery. He wanted to write to Miss Watson and tell her where Jim was, but that would prove that Huck the person who helped slave's escape. He prayed that Jim would find Miss Watson, but he was praying for something that he didn't really want to happen, therefore 'praying for a lie.' He also began to pray about not doing any more bad deeds, but again, he knew this wasn't entirely true. In the end, Huck is saying that you cant pray about something unless every part of heart wants it, if you have the slightest thought against this prayer, it doesn't qualify and isn't worth the prayer.
2.
Huck was going to write a letter to Tom Sawyer, so Tom could tell Miss Watson about Jim. But, no matter who Huck wrote to or what he said, Jim along with Huck would end up in a losing situation. Miss Watson would just sell Jim, or the story of Huck helping a slave escape would get out to the public. Jim and Huck had been through a lot together. They grew extremely close and instantly became friends. Thinking about Jim's good heart, friendship with Huck, and how much Jim truly deserved brought Huck to tears, but also helped him make the final decision that he would steal Jim back from slavery.

I think that Huck being disappointed in Tom Sawyer is very hypocritical, because Huck asked Tom for a help and is lucky that Tom would be willing to help him. By calling Tom a bad person he is calling himself a bad person.

Huck means that humans will go to great lengths to provide for themselves, they will do horrible things to get to the top, even if it means hurting someone else in some way. When he speaks about the conscience, he talks about how no matter what you do your conscience always finds a way to make you feel some way. When the con men are being punished, Huck still feels bad for them, because his conscience allows him to put himself in their shoes and see that they were just trying to make a living and chose the wrong path.

Chapters 36-40
1.
Tom loves adventure and would do anything to get a good sense of adrenaline. He wants his escape plan to feel as real and crazy as possible. He feels as though he’s living a book. Huck however, is completely the opposite. Huck genuinely wants to help Jim. He has a kind heart and is doing it for all of the right reasons. Huck is willing to do anything for someone he cares about.
2.
Huck and Tom were stealing stuff from Aunt Sally's house, they were taking spoons, candles and some bed sheets. Tom and Huck were constructing a rope ladder out of bed sheets to use so they can rescue Jim. Huck then says "We let on it took nine months to make it" Huck is saying that the rope ladder took so long to make it felt like nine months. Later on, when they tell their story they are going to say that the whole plan and making the rope ladder took nine months to make. This makes it their adventure more intense and exciting than what it really was.
3.
Tom wants everyone to know about his great escape plan and how everything went down. Tom wants something to go wrong so that everyone will know about the great escape, he even gave the slaves instructions to tell the family. Tom wants the fam and glory that would come out of this, and is drives by nothing else. His sole motivation is to be known. If people came after him and tried to catch the boys, he’d be the criminal like in all his stories, his dream.
4.
This is satire because it makes fun of failed escapes. For instance the failed escape of King Louis. Tom read the stories of King Louis XVI and used elements from the book when they freed Jim. He quoted the book when they finished the escape, and said that they should have help King Louis XVI escape, because they’re so great that he would’ve never died.
5.
When Huck says this, he means that Jim is just the same as everyone else even though he’s black. Huck realized that color truly makes no difference in a person’s character. However since whites are seen as better in every way, he says that he is white inside to show that he is a good, equal human who deserves more than what he gets.
